  • Bearcamp River in Sandwich Notch in Sandwich, New Hampshire during the summer months. This river travels along a portion of the historic Sandwich Notch Road.

  • Hiker crossing footbridge along the Thoreau Falls Trail in the Pemigewasset Wilderness of New Hampshire during the winter months. This bridge is in an area referred to as North Fork Junction and crosses the East Branch of the Pemigewasset River. Just beyond this bridge was the location of a timber trestle of the old East Branch & Lincoln railroad (1893-1948).

This trail utilizes the old railroad bed of the Boston & Maine's Berlin Branch, which was abandoned and removed in the 1990s.

  • Shell Cascade in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire during the spring months. Located on Hardy Brook, visitors to the Waterville Valley area have been visiting this waterfall since the 1800s. But no official trail leads to this waterfall today, and during times of high water it can be difficult to reach Hardy Brook.

  • Southern Presidential Range from the Jewell Trail in Thompson and Meserve's Purchase in the New Hampshire White Mountains at sunset on a cloudy summer day. The Jewell Trail is named for Sergeant Winfield S. Jewell. He was an Army Signal Corps observer on Mount Washington from 1878-1880. And on April 12, 1884, while on the Greely expedition to the Arctic, Jewell died of starvation. Out of the 25 men on the three year Greeley expedition (1881–1884), only six survived.

Tuckerman Ravine is named for Professor Edward Tuckerman, a botanist and early explorer of the White Mountains.

  • This is a 35 MM slide that has been digitized - Silhouette of the Old Man of the Mountain profile. Discovered in 1805 the Old Man profile was the main attraction of Franconia Notch until it collapsed on May 3, 2003. This profile was on the side of Cannon Mountain in Franconia Notch, New Hampshire USA.

The Subway Trail is a side trail off the King Ravine Trail, which travels through a large boulder field in King Ravine in the White Mountains, New Hampshire USA. The subway trail reconnects with the King Ravine Trail and snow can be found in the ice caves of this ravine during the summer months.
