  • Flash floods from Tropical Storm Irene in 2011 wash out a section of the Wilderness Trail (formerly Cedar Brook Trail) in the Pemigewasset Wilderness of Lincoln, New Hampshire USA revealing artifacts from the East Branch & Lincoln Railroad era. This storm caused extensive damage along the East coast of the United States. And the White Mountain National Forest of New Hampshire was officially closed during the storm.

  • Mt Tecumseh Trail in the Waterville Valley, New Hampshire in September 2011. Trail stewardship groups suggest that only needed stone structures that benefit the trail should be built along a trail and that the best maintained trails will have stonework that looks natural. The row of rocks on the right may be to discourage hikers from going around the steps, but it is unneeded. Using brush and dead trees to block that side would be the better option, and it would look natural. It is believed this section of stonework was built in 2011.

  • Looking up landslide on the side of the Hancock Mountain Range in the Pemigewasset Wilderness of Lincoln, New Hampshire USA. Heavy rains from Tropical Storm Irene in 2011 caused an old landslide that was in the process of being natural regenerated to slide again. The natural process of regeneration must start all over. The new landslide looks to follow the track of the old one. This storm caused extensive damage along the East coast of the United States and the White Mountains, New Hampshire.
