In 2011, Tropical Storm Irene washed out part of the Mt Tecumseh Trail in New Hampshire. This is part of the rerouted section. Trail maintenance organizations say that only needed stone structures should be built along a trail, and stonework should look natural. After a trail inspection by Forest Service in June 2012 some of the stones that lined each side of the trail in this section were removed. Removing the stones gives the trail a more natural look and feel. This photo shows how this section looked before the stones were removed.
